map & list views
Properties can be viewed using the default map view or via the more standard list
type view (linked to the map's current position) by choosing from the "map view" and
"list view" tabs just below the bedroom/value slider controls on the left.
information given by each map icon
In the "map view", the icon's location shows where the property is located (approximation
only based on postcode and/or house number and street), and the icon also indicates
the price and number of bedrooms (bedrooms shown via the small black/white number
in the bottom right). Each icon's colour ranges from green if it's value is at the
bottom of the chosen price range, through amber to red at the top of the price range.
more info on properties
Hover over the property icons to see more information on each property, then click
on the property image to go to the full page details for that property. When multiple
properties are found at a given point, a list is shown - hover over each individual
price to see that property's summary details, and then click on this price or the
property image to go to the main property page.
navigating around map
You can move around the map by clicking and dragging on a clear area of the map,
and you can zoom in and out using using the mouse scroll wheel or the zoom control
at the top left of the map.
searching by property value / number of bedrooms
The search criteria can be amended by adjusting the sliders at the top of the page
for price range and number of bedrooms. Properties are then searched for that have
the chosen number of bedrooms (or above), and that are between the lower and higher
values. The value slider additionally highlights in orange what values are covered
by the properties loaded (up to a maximum of the cheapest 400 properties can be
loaded at one time)
searching for addresses and types of location
You can also use the search input box control in the top left of the map. Click
in the input text box and type in an address you wish to search for, then press
search to find that location. Alternatively you can type in criteria such as "primary
school" or "pizza" and the map will show up to 8 matching items in the local area.
bookmarking properties
You can bookmark a property by clicking on its icon. This will highlight the properties'
icon in purple and will ensure it is always displayed on the map. Clicking it again
will un-bookmark it.
